just call me blanket head

Today was yet another great day in Elim. I woke up this morning pretty early to the sun. I tried desperately to go back to sleep. I ended up wrapping a blanket around my head to sleep hahaha I look absolutely ridiculous. Once I woke up I really was out of it for a while. Mark texted me .. I went over to his house and came back to eat breakfast.

After several attempts to send a package today at the post office it ended up not working out so hot. Gary said some machine was down, so I'll have to try again tomorrow. I was on the phone with verizon for about an hour trying to cancel my plan without a dang early termination fee. After explaining that I do not get service here for the thousandth time.. I think the lady finally got it through her head and let it go. So whenever someone tells you they have to check with the tech people.. they really don't. They're just trying to hold off on you canceling your plan in hopes that you'll just forget about it. It's a real joke.

I got an email the other day about my professional license not being able to go through due to my contract not being signed by both parties blah blah blah blah… so i had to take care of that too today. It was easier than I thought. They don't give you much time to fix it before they send you you're entire application back in the mail. So, hopefully everything will be processed now and I will have my professional license in the state of Alaska.

That made me think of my driver's license too! In order to get your driver's license you have to pass a written test. It has 20 questions and needless to say.. I failed the damn thing the first time I took it. I felt like a complete idiot, but the questions were seriously hard. How am I suppose to know the exact amount of ft away i'm suppose to be from an oncoming vehicle or one in the same lane when I have my headlights on and need to dim them? Too many fact questions .. I  had to study to pass. Anyway, they don't even print you an license at the DMV there. THey give you a temporary card and send the real one in the mail. Now, I know some of you are wondering why I got my drivers's license in AK. It is the law to become a resident of the state within 30 days of living here. It is also beneficial for tax purposes as well as getting PFD money for oil each year ;) mhmm

Back to my day in Elim. I watched a movie this afternoon… sipped on a diet pepsi. YES, I KNOW! PEPSI. You read it right. For those of you who know me.. I am a diet coke girl, just like my mother. No more diet coke at the store. Just bought a case of diet pepsi for 15 bucks… psshhhh .. 15 bucks for diet pepsi. Woooahhh.

After a while mark and I decided to go out to Moses Point and try our luck with the silvers. I lost my favorite hook and have to order a new one. The darn thing got snagged on something in the water and had to cut it loose. I had kids following me everywhere today. I also had a few girls over and we read books this morning.  Was real cute :)

I"m already starting to talk like an eskimo and seems to be that I am writing like one as well. I'm telling you, it really rubs off on you.

I didn't catch any silvers but I did catch a tomcod. You can't eat them in the summer because they have worms in their bellies. So, I let it go. Several failed attempts at fishing and we headed back towards Iron Creek. We didn't even try our luck there. I headed back to town, chatted with a  new teacher  and headed to bed.

It doesn't matter how many times I step outside, I still smile. I feel so content with life right now. So many things are coming together for me. Its great to know that I am where I belong.. and life has a meaning… and my career has a meaning.

My roommate arrives on Friday. I am enjoying time alone right now but it will be nice to have someone to eat dinners with and chat with at night.

until next time

Sammy
(no pics this time) sorry guys

oh… I almost forgot. I saw some very odd jellyfish today at Moses Point. They were white.. almost looked like puff balls floating past me in the water. I caught one of them.. very  odd looking creatures thats for sure!
