I don't know who will read this blog anymore since it's been forever since my last blog post. I have been thinking about my blog recently. I miss writing about things that happen here and I miss posting pictures for those who are not on facebook. Since I don't even post the majority of my pictures on facebook anymore.. I figured that maybe I should start my blog up again so that I can show you all once more what I have been up to.
I have had a fabulous year. I was thinking just the other day that I really haven't had too many days where I was upset about life or that I wished I was home in WI. Towards the end of the year its always really hard for me to keep it all together because I'm so close to the beer, green grass, warm summer days and seeing my family and friends. Towards the end it becomes really hard for me to endure the cold weather and continuous snow that falls from the sky. Just last week I was praying for some warm days because the temp read 0 when I woke up in the morning.
Our days are getting much brighter now. The sun does not go down until nearly 11:00 PM and it comes up are 630 in the morning. It's hard to go to bed at night when you hear children outside still playing away and you know they are hours away from rest.... and so are you. The bright light that remains outside my window at night is annoying and even pesters my dog. He has taken on the habit of going underneath my covers at night so that he doesn't have to see the light ! Because of the light it is making everyone at school very tired and that makes my job very difficult. 13 sleepy kinders are not an easy group to deal with. I find myself doing all sorts of crazy things just to entertain them and get them to smile. Crabby kinders are not fun either. ... .. ...
Anyway,
I have a million pictures from this year that I want to post but I know that I will be unable to do so. The internet here is far too slow so I think that if you have any suggestions as to what you would like me to post I will gladly do so. Here's what I have pictures of
1. Iditarod photos
2. pictures of my students in my classroom
3. bingo for books and other school events
4. pictures of the sea ice and amanda and I on it
5. pics of moses
If any of these things interest you I will go back into my phone and download and pick and choose so that you may take a look. If I don't hear from any of you I will do my best to begin my blog again next school year and add pictures just as I used to.
As I progress in my career I am ending up taking on more and more responsibilities. I have been asked to do many things for my school and I have set up a great many things for our school. Between tutoring, running student store, running solutions team, organizing school events and teaching my days are very full ... and I guess this is why I stopped blogging in the first place. I also just got to thinking that my life was pretty normal here and that there really wasnt a high need for me to write about it. I think I was wrong for stopping. I could have had another whole year in Alaska documented... oh well.
Busy is busy... and I can honestly say I really haven't had much time where I've been bored.
For those of you who don't know, I have signed a contract for next school year and will be back in Alaska for the next school year. I will finally get to move into new housing this summer and have my own place with Moses. Speaking of the little guy... he's gotten pretty big. A whopping 9.5 pounds I might add. He is going with me home to WI this summer and will fly first class at my feet :) He will also be seeing the vet straight away so that he will not run away from home to see any female companions when we get back. He's been one nosey mosey.. thats for sure!
I am looking forward to another year of teaching and living in a place that I love. I will write another blog near the end of the school year and post pics if anyone wants to see what I have done this year.
Sammy
Happy to see your blog again! We would love to see pictures of the little ones in your classroom and school activities, village life and the beautiful scenery, the Iditarod too, and of course Moses. You do lead a busy life and why not post only your favorites. From you biggest fans, Gma and Gpa
