A new journey

Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky. Some of you out there might think that what I'm doing is crazy, some might even think that I've lost my mind for coming back to the bush! The only thing I can tell you is that I am happy. I can't imagine what god had in store for me when he set me up with this great old plan, but I am loving what is happening in my life right now. He must know what he's doing right ?!

When I left Elim for he first time I knew that I was curious about what else the world had to offer other than teaching there. I loved it there and my job, but I thought I really needed to see if I was missing out on anything. Turns out, the grass is not always greener on the other side and I often found myself wondering why I had left Elim, why had i given all that up?I really would like to believe that teaching in wi for a year gave me the boost I needed to be secure with my life in AK. Not that wi was terrible, but that I found the strength I needed within myself to be able to give up the social hours, the Friday drinking, the shopping, the eating out because Alaska and Elim really is worth it.

I made some amazing friends in wi just like I did in Elim. That made it so much harder to leave. Having old and new friends ( not to mention the best family I could ask for) to support your dreams is the best feeling in the world.

Well, now that I'm finished being all sentimental, I just have to say this world is a beautiful place ! As soon as I saw the mountains in Anchorage I lost it. It's crazy how something so scenic can just take your breath away. I felt like I was home again.

When I arrived in Anchorage I was able to catch up with a great mentor
and friend, Lori, who took me to a hilariously funny show called the whale fat follies. The show is a sort of slide show, singing comedy that brings a smile to your face for two straight hours ! A comedic representation of the political side of Alaska as well as a hilarious standpoint about tourism, fishing and Alaskan culture. Needless to say I absolutely loved the show!

The next day I met up with BSSD's finest librarian who now lives and works in ANC. She drove me around to get my license, my food and my sanity :)

I'm traveling to nome presently and will be arriving in Elim this afternoon! I can't wait to see the kids and to see old friends and familiar faces once again ! My dreams are coming true once again and I have never been happier in my whole life !

Will post pictures soon!

Xoxoxo
