burrrrr its getting cold!

Hey everyone,

Sorry, once again I have been slacking on the blog scene. The past few weeks have been very busy and to actually sit down and take the time to blog seems impossible ... of course i have time to lay in bed and watch netflix though! hahah No, really, it has been exhausting the past few weeks and getting sick again did not help either.

My trip to Nome was amazing. The plane ride in was very bumpy and made all of us very sickly feeling, but once we got to the hotel and put on our party pants haha we went out and had a good time. I got exactly what I wanted at the first restaurant we went to. One BIG hamburger with the works and a little bowl of coleslaw. We then began our night out on the town and boy let me just say that I thought Kewaskum knew how to drink... Nome on the other hand REALLY knows how to drink. It was interesting talking to some of the people out at the bars and it was really nice to relax and get out of Elim for a bit. By the second day in Nome we all were ready to go home. As much as we love to go out and have a few, I honestly missed the quiet little village of Elim. It's just so peaceful here and on the weekends all we normally do is relax. So, needless to say I was exhausted after a weekend in Nome and just ready to be back HOME. One funny thing about going to Nome is that when you walk into a place they autimatically know that you are a group of teachers because #1 your white, and #2 you don't talk like you're from a village. Oh and #3 they know everyone in town so if they don't know you... YOU"RE  A TEACHER hahah

The plane ride back was awesome! We saw many pods of beluga in the waters along the coast line. They look like big white blobs in the Bering Sea. Beautiful big white blobs!

This week was a little rough for me. I got sick on Tuesday night and ended up staying home all day on Wednesday. Rachel flew out to Unalakleet for a conference and was back on Thursday night. All of our wrestlers and cheerleaders flew out on Thursday to Unalakleet for a tournament and everyone gets to watch them on the VTC at our school if we want. Basically its a live camera from Unalakleet that connects to our large T.V. at school. It's pretty neat! Volleyball teams from Golovin and Teller flew in yesterday for a weekend long tournament and it's a pretty big event here to host two different schools. I was the ticket lady for the games yesterday and will be going back up to school at 5:30 again tonight to do it all over again. It's interesting, we all feel like we live at school. When there is nothing to do ... there is always something going on at school, so we're always there!

Rachel and just got back from a walk on the beach. It sure is cold out there. The temperature isn't too cold but the wind just whips against your face and makes you feel frozen! We were scared to walk out on the ice of the Bering Sea, but we braved up, slipped a little and made it pretty far out. It's a little scary to think about falling in, but its pretty thick ice out there already! We took lots of pictures... well as many as we could before our fingers froze up. The ice is beautiful and I feel like I'm in a whole different world. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I still can't believe that I live somewhere so beautiful. It truly is amazing. I am so blessed.

One more thing: I bought the most amazing bracelet from a local man who made it. An expensive gift to myself I thought it was very worth it. Its fossilized walrus ivory and baleen from a bullhead whale. It's beautiful and I'll post a picture.

Love and miss you all! Just think, 5 1/2 weeks until I'm home !!! YAHOOOOOOO
