Sorry I've been slacking on my blog writing. I have had a crazy, long and busy week here. I have had so many visitors and observations in my classroom and not to mention meetings about my teaching that my head might soon explode! :) On Monday I met a wonderful woman named Kim who is my curiosity corner coach (the curriculum we teach). She came up to make sure I was doing all of the things I need to be doing for my classroom and for teaching. She came all the way from West Palm Beach Florida. I did ask her to take me with her lol Just so you know...
Anyway, I had a wonderful time chatting with her and can't wait to see her again when she comes in April. On tuesday-thursday my mentor Lori was here visiting Rachel, Rachelle and I. We had a good time with her and her friend/mentor Kathy. It's nice to have people visit but boy can it be exhausting !
On Wed. we had some staffing issues at work but those seem to be resolved and the entire week and last weekend I have been suffereing from some kind of virus that will not go away! It seems to just get worse and worse as the weeks progress. This time I have a whole new round of symptoms, coughing, headaches, stuffy nose, body aches. You name it... its happening to me right now. I think that being a first year teacher, especially in bush alaska, takes a tole on your body. Physically, mentally and you cannot fight off the germs that your students rub all over you. LOL But, what am I suppose to do? Say "I'm sorry, you're germ infested and I won't hug you back?" Nope... not happening. My kids are super sweet and full of love and hugs... i guess my body is paying me back for that. hahah
Rachel was suppose to fly out to Unalakleet yesterday evening for a conference but due to the crazy weather we've been having, she wasn't able to fly out. The winds here are nutso right now and the waves are huge! Apparently though, this is nothing compared to a real storm! YIKES
You know, when you're sick and the weather is crappy all you want is your Mommy. Honestly, its the truth ahah even when you're 24 years old you still want your mom to come to the rescue, make you comforting food and tuck you in when you're sleepy. hahah I sound like a baby ! Instead I'll make Rachel do it for me ! hahah
On a bright note, my students are doing well and they are getting smarter and smarter each day! I am really enjoying my time with them. John and I were discussing what I want to do with my kids for the Christmas concert because if I do anything I'll have to start soon, seeing as how my kids can't remember what the day of the week it is so learning a song will take some time for them! John and some high school students are going to play guitar while my kids sing and do some movements to the song Up on the House Top. I think it will be cute!
On another bright note, John will be booking our tickets to Nome for the weekend after Halloween. A few of us are going to Nome so that we can get a break from here, go to some bars, relax and go out to eat. Should be nice! If there's one thing I miss on a Friday night it's either an ice cold beer or a glass of wine. Oh well! It won't kill me right?
Other than that, nothing else new here. I have a feeling there will be snow soon and that will be fun! I def. like snow more than rain here!
I'm going to add some pictures of my kiddos on here for you to see. Love and miss you all!
