Elim, heaven on earth? possibly, yes (when it's not raining)

Hey guys,

So ... I have a lot to tell you about this last week. Things at school are going great. The kids are getting used to our routine and starting to listen better every day. They are also starting to warm up to me finally which i love because I feel like they trust me and care for me as their teacher. Some of them want to be by me all the time and others want to hug me constantly. It's super cute, but I have to do my job. I'm just glad they like me after all of the routine riding I've been doing on them. Constantly re-directing them and challenging them to make good choices in our classroom. I have some really smart kids and I can tell that by the end of the year I am going to see huge improvements in things like writing, drawing, speaking and listening. These kids have a lot going for them.. not to mention that they are the cutest humans on earth ! haha Every teacher probably thinks that of their students.

So the other day, I was just finishing up clean up time with my kids and another teacher had mentioned that they tend to clean up better when they are listening to music. Anyway, a song came on when they were done that they recognized because we do it every single morning during our morning greeting time. I've been working with them on our moves and trying to get them to connect with their friends during the song. I didn't really know if they were grasping it or if they just didn't like it because some of them refuse to do it any. Anyway, as this song came on they all instantly when to the carpet and starting doing the moves and singing along. I turned around and was seriously in shock for about 2 minutes. I couldn't believe that they had learned this and were doing it all on their own and enjoying it. Something so simple, but yet for these kids, something so crucial for me to understand. They are getting it! They are learning! And, they are enjoying themselves! YAY ! YAY YAY!

I tried for over an hour to get the video on here from google + and no luck. I'm beyond frustrated with technology these days. They never make it easy for you.

On Friday we went four wheeling down the road for a bit and had a blast. It was freezing but we survived and didn't get eaten by any bears so thats good. We thought we might see some at the dump but they weren't there , thank god. I'm sure we would have freaked out if we saw any.
Today we went hiking for berries over by Elim Hill. It's more like a small mountain. It is beautiful outside today. Here are some pictures from fourwheeling and hiking. Having a blast in Alaska. But, time to get down to business and do some school work.

Love and miss you all

xoxo Samy
