Winter Coat weather already?

Hey everyone,
My first day in Elim has been good. I have just been cleaning my apartment and organizing some things. I was able to walk through the village and go to the post office and to the Native Store. They have everything there that I would possibly need, however, it is SUPER expensive. I bought the essentials for the week. BREAD AND TOILET PAPER hahah

For the rest of the day I plan on relaxing and watching some movies or reading a book. I still can't believe where I am when I walk outside. I had a few followers today (one husky puppy nipping at my ankles on the walk home and his little puppy friend) Kind of wanted to scoop them up and take them with me but they roam free around here and I guess they are friends with everyone!

The locals seem very nice. I met a man named Abel and his brother, I met a mother and her daughter on the road. They all seemed very interested in meeting the new teacher. I can't wait until Rachel gets here so we can roam the village together :)

All in all I am feeling pretty comfortable in my new home... oh and did I mention that the school I will be teaching at is a headstart on top of the hill in town. About a mile walk to school..... maybe I'll hop a ride on someone's snow machine in the winter! ahhhhhh

for now, I will enjoy the cleanest air I have ever breathed, the glorious view of the Bering Sea outside my window and the friendliness of all the Natives.

Until next time,
Sammy
