I thought I should write something since I haven't done a thing this whole week with being at training and all. I had my first official Sat. work day today and got a lot accomplished. My classroom looks like a bomb exploded but will soon turn into something beautiful (i hope) :(
The rain and the blistering winds of Elim are getting to me the past couple of days. It's been raining for about 4 days and it's not very pretty anymore. The waves of the Bering Sea are like fireworks exploding. You can hear them from miles away and when I look out the window I can't help but not think about how dangerous it must be out there! I have been told that these little storms we're experiencing are really nothing compared to bigger storms. I can't imagine what that will be like but I'm sure when I know.. YOU WILL ALL KNOW... haha but really, I'll be fine.
I spent some of my afternoon getting to know things about this machine called a cricut. It cuts everything out for you that you could possibly need. I made some of my bulletin board letters on there and some cute little pictures of a backpack and a girl and boy. I also made little people, like little dolls that I had to print off clothes and hair and everything for. I'm going to make a birthday chart for my kids so that I can place their little person on the month of their birthday. They're really cute. I made them look like native kids and all ! (yes people, i get excited about making little paper dolls) I am an ECE teacher afterall.
I just cannot wait until everything is organized and until this stupid rain stops. Rachel asked if I wanted to go fishing after work but I decided it was too cold. Turns out they didn't catch a thing anyway lol We had fun at our training in Unalakleet. The staff is so much fun. We had a few jam sessions in our room at the school and outside at the fire. I"ll post a video of my neighbor John playing guitar and Rachel's friend Robin playing the banjo. Everyone was singing along... and everyone here is SUPER talented musically I must say.
Other pictures are of silly times in Unalakleet. Oh and PEOPLE.. if you get the chance you should watch the show Flying Wild Alaska because I have been there and you can get a chance to see the kind of airplanes that I fly in on a regular basis.
Until Next time,
SLAM (that one was for you dad)
Lauren and Diana
