Enjoying the sunshine... while it lasts

Hey everyone,

I had a very good last two days here in Elim. I was able to visit the school I will be teaching at which is very nice. Some pictures I will post are of the view from the top of the hill where I will be teaching and of my classroom (which is not yet set up).

Yesterday I was able to meet more people from the village and they are excited to see new teachers here in Elim, as I am more than happy to meet new people :) I bought a 12 pack of soda for 15.78 and some other things ... gotta have my caffiene!

Rachel, my roomate arrived yesterday and it was nice to have someone to walk around with. We went with some of the local girls down to the beach and explored the village a little. The last two days have been beautiful and sunny here. It is super bright outside!

Today was my first working day in the school district. I was able to conference with the other teachers from differnt schools and district headquarters via broadcast and that as awesome! I think it's really nice that they have a system like that so that eveyone can introduce themselves and we can all meet and discuss things at once. There isn't much for me to do at the moment classroom wise.. I am still waiting to set things up and get things together. Tomorrow I will probably head up to the classrom and sort through bins and such to get my first week of teaching together. I need to put ideas together for thanksgiving thems, christmas themes and so on. Time to think ahead!

I am excited to meet all of my students and get to know them. I think I will be giving out welcome cards and gift to all the students as I go around and meet parents. If you have any ideas of what would be nice... please leave a comment!

Miss you and love you all

xoxo Sammy
