Made it to my village. Let me just say that today was a day I will NEVER forget. I flew out of Anchorage and landed in Nome which is about the size of Kewaskum. The village itself is right by the ocean and there are many many many beautiful things to see. The airport consisted of a metal shack and a small waiting room which i will post a picture of. This experience has been one that I do not think anyone (unless you have been here) can relate to. My plane ride from Nome to Elim which was a 10 passenger plane was an experience of a lifetime. The pilot asked if it was my first time flying Bering Air and so then, he made me sit right up in front with him and flew low so I could see EVERYTHING until we had to cross over the mountains. Flying over the Bering Sea in a small aircraft is better than any roller coaster in the UNIVERSE. Didn't see any whales but saw many caves and awesome cliffs. We arrived in Elim and my Principal and his wife picked me up. The village of Elim is very small. The people are wonderful and children have already began greeting me at my door, knocking wondering who this new person in their village is. I have heard though, if you let one child in the rest will eventually follow hahah
This will def. take some time to get used to. I look out my back window and all there is is Bering Sea. The teachers here are very welcoming and I appreciate their kindness! Looking forward to meeting my new roomate in the near future.
Until Next time,
Sammy
